Britewave Digital For E-Commerce

Why is Magento Preferred For E-commerce

There are a ton of different e-commerce platforms to choose from when it comes to selling your products online. However, when it comes to choosing one, we prefer Magento. Here at Britewave Digital, our dedicated Magento team has developed more than 100 custom Magento sites over the last 5 years.

Why do we prefer Magento over other e-commerce options?

First of all, it’s an open-source platform that provides numerous rich benefits and incredible user-flexibility to help manage the content, looks and functionality of an online store. It also boasts a fantastic administration interface that provides excellent marketing, SEO and catalogue management tools.

Magento is the Most Preferred E-Commerce Platform

So how exactly does Magento differentiate itself from the competition?
Let’s find out:

  • Magento v. Shopify -

As an open-source platform, Magento provides users with hundreds of templates and extensions, whereas Shopify is a smaller platform with only 200 templates to choose from. Shopify also lacks the reporting and customization options of Magento.

  • Magento v. BigCommerce -

Both Magento and BigCommerce are easy to set up; however, with BigCommerce there is a much bigger chance of getting hung up with complex plug-ins and limited third party support. Not to mention that BigCommerce will cost you $29.99 a month in addition to a 1.5 percent transaction fee and other credit card processing fees. These expenses can add up.

  • Magento v. WordPress -

WordPress now offers e-commerce plugins. The thing is, the WordPress platform was designed for blogging, not e-commerce. Magento is a much more customizable e-commerce solution that doesn’t require you to use your blog page as your e-commerce page as well.

Magento is one of the three leading providers to the top 500 online retailers in North America. There are currently 34 Magento merchants on the most current Internet Retailer Top 500 list - twice the amount it had on the 2013 list. A year ago, Magento had a 26 percent share of the e-commerce market - this has no doubt increased substantially since then.

  • Multiple Stores -

Magento allows you to run several stores from just one admin panel, making it much easier to manage all your stores at once - and you can use different IP addresses, domain names and security certificates for each.

  • Marketing Tools -

Magento offers a number of marketing tools, such as up-sells and cross-sells, to help boost sales. The platform also offers search engine-friendly URLs that help attract more customers.

  • Metrics -

Magento offers a number of tracking tools, including Google Analytics, to help judge your online store’s performance. The platform also provides useful reports, such as abandoned shopping car reports, best viewed products reports and tax reports, to name a few.

Magento is the leader in e-commerce platforms due to its flexibility,
user-friendliness and substantial customization options, which is why it is the platform we use at Britewave Digital.
